9 Kings is a turn-based roguelike deckbuilding kingdom builder. You play a monarch on the rise, expanding a capital and fighting rival kings until you claim the King of Kings title. The pacing stays sharp and tactical — every decision pushes a growing empire forward.
Cards drive each run. You lay buildings, train troops, and cast spells, then armies auto-battle against invading rulers. Enemy lineups include knights, warlocks, imps, and sentient mushrooms. Events throw dozens of curveballs. A standard run ends at 33 turns; endless mode, multiplayer, and quest modes add alternatives. Defeated kings drop cards to loot. Perks and modifiers stack, and synergies can get explosive.
Diplomacy matters as much as combat. Make peace with rulers whose units don't fit your style. Declare war on those with powers you want. That shapes both your battles and your draft pool. City-building, deckcraft, and chaotic fights all feed the same loop with real agency. Try outlandish combinations. Some break wide open and rewrite how you climb toward the throne.
