Valorant Skin Gifting: How It Works and Who Can Receive

Level 15 required. Friends for 7 days minimum. Same region only. Max 5 gifts per day. Featured bundles only. Here is everything about Valorant's gifting system before you spend VP.

Riot added gifting to Valorant in Patch 10.08 after years of players asking for it. The system lets you buy store items for friends instead of yourself. But it comes with a specific set of requirements, region restrictions, and limitations that catch people off guard before the first gift attempt. Spending VP on a gift that fails because of a missed requirement is an avoidable loss. This guide covers every rule, every limitation, and exactly how the process works from start to finish. VP for gifting is available at better rates through LootBar.

What Gifting Actually Is

Gifting is not a transfer system. You cannot move skins from your account to another account. What it does is let you purchase eligible store content for a friend through Riot’s own store flow. The skin goes directly from the store to their account. You pay with your own VP or payment method, they receive the item.

This distinction matters for refunds. Once a gift is accepted by the recipient, the VP is spent and cannot be returned. The only way to get VP back is if the recipient rejects the gift, or if they leave it unclaimed for 60 days, in which case the full VP is refunded to the sender automatically.

Requirements to Send a Gift

The sender’s account must be at least Level 15. Accounts below Level 15 cannot access the gifting flow at all — the gift button simply does not appear.

Both the sender and recipient must be on each other’s friends list for at least seven days. Adding someone on the same day and attempting to gift will fail. The seven-day wait is enforced to reduce fraud and abuse through newly created accounts.

Both accounts must be in the same region and on the same game shard. A player on EU servers cannot send a gift to a player on NA, APAC, or any other region. Region locking applies across all gifting. There is one additional restriction: players in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam can only gift players within those same four countries, not to other APAC players outside that group.

Both accounts must be in good standing. Active bans or account restrictions block gifting for both the sender and recipient.

What Can Be Gifted

Only items from the Featured Store are eligible for gifting. This includes current featured bundles, individual items within those bundles, Esports (VCT) team capsules from the current season, and VP itself on PC.

What cannot be gifted: items from the daily store rotation, Night Market skins, Radianite Points, Kingdom Credits, or anything outside the current featured store selection. Riot has said more gifting options are planned for future updates but as of the current version, the featured store and VCT store are the only options.

If the recipient already owns part of a bundle being gifted, the price adjusts automatically. Only the items they do not already own are included in the purchase. If they own everything in the bundle, the gift cannot be sent.

How to Send a Gift Step by Step

Open the Valorant in-game store and go to the Featured Store section. Find the bundle or item to send. Below the Buy button, a Gift button appears if the item is eligible and all requirements are met. Click Gift.

Select the recipient from the friends list. Only friends who meet the seven-day friendship requirement and the region requirements appear as valid options. Friends who do not meet the criteria are grayed out or do not appear.

Review the final price. If the recipient already owns some items in the bundle, the price shown reflects only the remaining items. Confirm and complete the purchase using the payment method on file or existing VP balance.

The recipient receives a notification. They have 60 days to accept or reject the gift. If they accept, the item is permanently theirs. If they reject or do nothing for 60 days, the VP is refunded to the sender.

Daily Gift Limit

A maximum of five gifts can be sent per day. This limit applies to the sender. Receiving gifts has no stated daily cap. Players planning to gift multiple items to multiple friends need to account for this limit before committing VP.

Can You Gift VP Directly?

VP gifting is available on PC. The process works through the gifting flow in the store rather than transferring from an existing VP balance. This means buying VP specifically to gift it, not sending VP already in the account. Mobile gifting of VP is not available in the current version.

If the goal is to give a friend VP to spend themselves, the alternative is buying a Valorant gift card and sending them the code, which lets them redeem it on their own account independently.

Refund Rules for Gifts

Once a gift is accepted, it cannot be refunded under normal circumstances. The VP is spent the moment the recipient clicks Accept. Riot considers refunds in specific edge cases involving legal restrictions or compromised accounts, but those require a support ticket and are not guaranteed.

Rejected gifts are refunded in full as VP to the sender’s account. Unclaimed gifts are refunded automatically after 60 days. The refund comes as VP, not as real money, regardless of the original payment method.

Common Reasons Gifting Fails

  • Account below Level 15. This is the most common reason new players cannot find the gift button.
  • Friends for less than seven days. Adding someone the same day as the gift attempt always fails.
  • Different regions. Trying to gift across regions is blocked regardless of the item or the friendship duration.
  • Recipient already owns the item. Duplicate gifting is blocked automatically.
  • Daily limit reached. Five gifts per day is the cap. Attempting a sixth gift on the same day fails.
  • Account restrictions. Bans or active penalties on either account block the gift flow.

Gifting vs Trading: What Valorant Does Not Have

There is no trading system in Valorant. Gifting only works from the store at the time of purchase. Skins already in a collection cannot be transferred, sold, or re-gifted to another player. Once an item is accepted and in someone’s collection, it stays there permanently.

Any website or seller claiming to transfer, trade, or move existing skins between accounts is operating outside Riot’s systems. These services put both accounts at risk of permanent suspension. Riot has no official method to move skins between accounts, and support will not reverse the consequences of third-party transfers.

Conclusion

Level 15 minimum for the sender. Seven days of mutual friendship before the first gift can be sent. Same region only. Featured store and VCT bundles are the only eligible items. Maximum five gifts per day. Accepted gifts cannot be refunded. Rejected or unclaimed gifts refund as VP after 60 days. No trading, no skin transfers, no Night Market gifting. The system works exactly as described in Riot’s official support documentation — follow the requirements and the process is straightforward.
