The underwater world looks incredible but it does not mess around, and sometimes you just want to poke around without losing three hours of progress to a Leviathan. How to Enable Subnautica 2 Console Commands on PC

Subnautica 2 is on Unreal Engine 5 and native console support just wasn't there in the initial Early Access drop. Modders sorted it out quickly though. You need two free files from Nexus Mods and maybe five minutes of your time.

Here's exactly what you do:

First thing — head to Nexus Mods and download the latest UE4SS for Subnautica 2. Once that's done, track down your game install folder. Easiest way is right-clicking Subnautica 2 in Steam, hitting Manage, then Browse local files. From there navigate to Subnautica2\Subnautica2\Binaries\Win64 and extract the UE4SS files right into that folder.

While you're still on Nexus, grab the Console Commands mod too — saves you going back. Then open the Mods folder sitting inside the UE4SS directory you just set up and drop the mod files in there.

Now boot the game, load any save, and hit F2 — tap it twice if nothing happens on the first press. The debug console window pops up. Hit F2 again whenever you want to close it back down.

That’s it. The console gives you both a text input line and some clickable buttons for common toggles. Players have confirmed this works reliably on the Steam PC version as of late June 2026. Xbox players currently have no easy equivalent since the method relies on PC mods.

Important note before you start: Always back up your save folder first. Copy the entire save directory somewhere safe. Early Access patches drop constantly and mods can break or act weird after updates. Future you will be glad past you did this.

Subnautica 2 Exploration And Survival Cheats

god — Turns on full god mode. You take no damage, and you stop needing food, water, or oxygen. Perfect for long exploration trips or testing dangerous areas without dying.
invisible — Hostile creatures completely ignore you. Great when you just want to observe Leviathans or move through a biome without constant fights.
nocost — Everything you craft or process costs zero resources. This one is a favorite for big base builders who want to experiment with layouts freely.
unlockall — Instantly gives you every blueprint, recipe, and journal entry in the game. Handy if you’re stuck on progression or want to see late-game content early.

Quick Actions & World Control Commands

kill — Kills your character and respawns you right away. Useful for resetting position or testing death mechanics without loading a save.
day — Forces the time of day to daytime.
night — Switches the world to nighttime.
daynight # — Sets a specific time of day. Replace # with a number (for example, daynight 0.75 for late afternoon). The scale runs from 0 to 1.
FOV # — Changes your field of view. Try FOV 100 or FOV 110 if you’re on an ultrawide monitor and want less tunnel vision.
oxygen — Freezes your oxygen level so it neither rises nor falls. Pairs nicely with god mode for pure exploration.
togglehud — Hides the entire HUD. Be careful with this one — there’s currently no easy way to bring it back without quitting and restarting the game.

A few other Subnautica 2 commands (like goto, noclip, fly, and warp) show up in the menu but are disabled in the current Early Access build. They may get enabled in later patches.

Spawning Items with the Subnautica 2 Item Command

The item command is one of the most useful tools once you have the console open. The syntax is simple: item [itemname] [amount]

Item names are usually lowercase and match the internal IDs. Some crafted items have specific names like fibermesh, enameledglass, or advancedwiringkit.

This command is excellent for grabbing rare materials without hunting for hours or for quickly testing base designs that need lots of specific resources.

A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Start Using Subnautica 2 Cheats

Like the older Subnautica games, opening the console and using commands can disable achievements on that save. If you’re going for the full list, it’s smart to keep a separate test save just for messing around with Subnautica 2 cheats.

Because everything runs through mods right now, big game updates can break things temporarily until the mod gets updated. Check the Nexus page after each patch and grab the newest version if it’s available.

The hud toggle is still a bit rough — once it’s off, most people have to quit and restart to see the interface again. Only use it when you’re okay with that.
