Primal Lord season is here again, and Season 7 has brought three brutal server bosses that demand more than just your strongest heroes thrown together. Each Primal Lord - Marshtoad, Mirror Wraith, and Doomword Phantom - punishes sloppy formations with unique mechanics, so knowing what you're walking into matters more than raw power alone.
"Every Primal Lord rewards preparation over brute force," and that starts with having your roster ready to fight. Before diving into team comps, LootBar is the fastest way to top up diamonds and resources so your heroes are ascended and ready before the event timer runs out.

Season 7 Primal Lords at a Glance
Primal Lord | Damage Type | Core Challenge |
Marshtoad | Physical/Mixed | Rewards static, non-repositioning formations |
Mirror Wraith | Magic (20-tile range) | Punishes stacked DPS via reflected damage |
Doomword Phantom | Varies | Newest lord; still being tested server-wide |
How the Primal Lord Event Works
You get 3 challenge attempts per day, resetting at 00:00 UTC.
Individual rewards are based on total damage dealt per attempt.
Leaderboard rank uses your single highest damage score.
Server rewards scale with how fast your entire district defeats the boss - faster kills mean better rewards for everyone.
After the kill, an Eternal Inscription permanently records the top 50 district players.
Marshtoad: Best Teams
Marshtoad's fight mechanic punishes heroes who reposition mid-battle - units need to stay stationary to maximize uptime, which changes how you should build your formation compared to other lords. Community testing across the VN server (where the boss launched first) surfaced a few standout comps:
Team | Core Heroes | Best For | |||||
Baelran Contest Team |
| Highest overall damage with charms built | |||||
Solo Contest Team |
| Near-identical damage without needing Baelran | |||||
F2P Frieren Team |
| No Contess required | |||||
F2P Ludovic Team |
| Most budget-friendly, still solid |
Key notes from testing:
Leaving the twin heroes unlinked (not paired to a support) has consistently scored higher than linking them.
Charms across the whole team matter more here than in most fights - an uncharmed unit noticeably drags down total damage.
If you lack Contess, the Frieren-based F2P team is your best fallback and still lands respectable damage.
Mirror Wraith: Mechanics and Counters
Mirror Wraith is a Mage-type boss dealing pure Magic damage from a 20-tile range, meaning it can hit your entire formation without moving. Its kit is built to punish greedy, unprotected DPS.
Ability | Effect | Counterplay |
Laser Bounce | Reflects lasers between mirrors, hitting heroes in the path | Reposition to avoid consecutive bounce lines |
Mirror Specters | AoE damage that lowers defense | Burst them down or shield through it |
Mirror Barrier | Self-shield that blocks damage | Break it immediately — it gates your entire output |
Mirrored Curse | Reflects part of your top damage dealer's own hits back onto them | Never run an unshielded glass-cannon carry |
| Recommended heroes | ||||||||
| Thador or Ulmus as frontline tanks to soak reflected damage; Shemira and Faramor as backline DPS since Shemira's self-sustain resists the Curse; Rowan for extra Ultimate uptime; Smokey & Meerky or Hewynn for sustained healing through the specter phases. | ||||||||
Formation tip: keep your DPS spread from the frontline cluster, since Mirrored Curse targets high-damage heroes standing near the action most aggressively.
Doomword Phantom: What to Expect
Still being mapped out by servers per servers since this is the brand new addition this Season 7 for Doomword Phantom, until the definitive team data comes through then we can stick with the standard one for every Primal Lord: 1 tank on frontline to take damage, at least 1 healer, and 2-3 DPS heroes who doesn't require too much attention. No need to overcommit with one new and untested team comps unless the early clear of your district proves what's working.
Tips to Maximize Every Attempt
Treat your first daily attempt as a scouting run, then adjust your formation for attempts two and three.
Prioritize breaking shields or barriers before chasing raw damage numbers.
Never field a top DPS hero without a shield or sustain partner nearby.
Coordinate attack timing with your district - earlier server kills mean better rewards for everyone, not just you.
Conclusion
Season 7’s Primal Lords each have their own tricks – Marshtoad rewards players for sitting back and covering charms, Mirror Wraith takes away percentage health shields from anyone unlucky enough to be a DPS, and Doomword Phantom is still a work in progress. Regardless of which boss your realm has to face down, the key to victory is the same - a tanking front line, sustain for your team, and DPS heroes that can stick around for the duration.
