Miraidon ex Overview

Miraidon ex

Miraidon ex is a powerful Lightning Pokémon that has great abilities. We’ll talk about them later. This card has a 4-diamond rarity, 140 HP, and is included inside the Paradox pack. Since it’s an ex Pokémon, not a Mega Evolution, the ex Rule applies. To get this Pokémon, Lootbar can always help you out.

For those who don’t know, the ex Rule specifies that if an ex Pokémon is Knocked Out, the enemy will obtain 2 points. Meanwhile, it’s 3 points for Mega Evolution Pokémon, meaning that the one who knocks it out will win the battle instantly.

Moves and Abilities

What’s amazing about Miraidon ex is the great range of abilities it has. It has the Legendary Drive ability, which makes it possible to switch it with your currently Active Pokémon. By doing so, it will get all the Energy from that Pokémon. Pretty cool, right?

The reason why stacking Energy is essential for Miraidon ex is because of its offensive skill, Hadron Ray. This skill has the basic attack of 20, but will be multiplied for each Lightning Energy attached to it. So the more Energy you collect, the higher damage you can deal.

To unleash this strong ability, all you need is three Colorless Energy. By having some extra Lightning Energy, Miraidon ex will be quite unbeatable in later turns.

How to Obtain Miraidon ex Card

Miraidon ex card

If you’re interested in obtaining Miraidon ex, all you need is to test your luck on the Paradox Pack of the Paradox Drive expansion. Since it’s a 4-diamond Pokémon, you may need to pull some packs before actually getting it.

It may take some time until you eventually get it, but that’s okay. After opening so many packs, you will earn a huge amount of Pack Points you can spend.

Interestingly enough, you may also obtain Miraidon ex by crafting using 500 Pack Points. So, opening the packs in the Paradox Drive expansion wouldn’t be in vain. You will eventually get the Pokémon you’d really want.

Another way to get Miraidon ex is from trading. Using another Pokémon with the same 4-diamond-rarity, you can trade it for Miraidon ex using 5000 Shinedust. If you’ve been playing the game for quite some time, you will have more than that required amount from winning battles and events.

Recommended Miraidon ex Deck in Pokémon TCG Pocket

Magnezone

Since the Miraidon ex build heavily relies on the amount of Lightning Energy to deal substantial damage, it would be better to pair it with Pokémon that can draw more Energy each turn. What comes to mind when it comes to Lightning Energy is Magnezone.

Miraidon ex and CB Magnezone

The reason why we use Magnezone here is that it can transfer all its collected Lightning Energy to Miraidon ex, allowing it to deal massive damage to the opponent. Since you will naturally have more Energy, its damage will be increased as well.

Seeing how it flows, you’ll only get stronger and better Miraidon ex each turn. On the plus side, Magnezone can be a pretty decent second attacker, in case Miraidon ex’s health is low. However, there are some things you need to know.

With this deck, you’ll need to hold the Miraidon ex card in your hand to allow Magnezone to collect as much Lightning Energy as needed. Doing so can be really hard because your opponent may have disruptive cards to forcefully shuffle your hand.

Since Miraidon ex will have all the Energy needed, your benched Pokémon may be vulnerable if they don’t have Lightning Energy at all. Once Miraidon ex is knocked out, it’ll take some time for them to replenish Energy to attack.

The Best Way to Use Miraidon ex Deck

Miraidon ex build always needs Pokémon that can accumulate Lightning Energy as fast as possible. If you don’t have Magneton, Zeraora also works in the same way. If you don’t have these Pokémon yet, check out Lootbar to make some top up.

The more Lightning Energy you can collect, the stronger Miraidon ex will be, especially in the late game. It’ll be unbeatable, specifically in the late game.

However, there’s always an issue with a late-game build like this, which is survivability. It’s better to have some restorative tools and trainers to make Miraidon ex survive longer.

With the amount of time needed to collect the Lightning Energy, your opponent may already establish their strongest attacker. Therefore, it’s important to make Miraidon ex stays longer on the field.

In case its health gets lowered, you can use Professor Turo, a new trainer card from this expansion. This card can call a Future Pokémon from the field to the deck. But doing so will remove all attached Energy.

Countering Miraidon ex Deck

Rampardos

Miraidon ex relies a lot on its Energy, so it’s always better to take it down as fast as possible before it can gather more. Use Pokémon that have the counter element, which is the Fighting Type.

You may use Pokémon that can unleash attacks with lower Energy requirements, like Marshadow, Rampardos, and Mega Lucario ex. Although Miraidon ex has 140 HP, Rampardos can take it down in two turns by only using 1 Fighter Energy.

Disrupting the enemy is also a clever idea to prevent Miraidon ex from collecting more Lightning Energy. You can use Alolan Ninetales ex to prevent your opponent from getting more Energy as long as it stays in Active.

Red Card and Mars are also recommended just to scramble your opponent’s cards in hand. Since they will hold the Miraidon ex card in hand while waiting for the required Energy, it’s a simple and clever idea to mess up their strategy.

Conclusion

Miraidon ex deck is indeed a powerful deck from the Paradox Drive expansion. It’s consistent and powerful, although you’ll need to spend more time to prepare it. If you want to collect all the great cards this expansion has to offer, we highly recommend making a Pokémon TCG Pocket top up
