Vaporeon ex - An Overview
Vaporeon Ex is indeed a good card to collect, especially for players who are mainly collecting water decks. This Water-type Pokémon can be pretty durable with its 160 HP. However, as we all know, it’s not a basic Pokémon. You’ll need to evolve it from Eevee. This Pokémon is a 4-diamond-rarity card and can be obtained in some ways. Additionally, it’s weak against Lightning, so be mindful if you’re facing Pikachu or any other Lightning-type Pokémon that can deliver good damage. If you don’t have Pokémon to counter them, Lootbar can always help you out.
What’s unique about Vaporeon ex in Pokémon TCG Pocket is the ability. Vaporeon ex can unleash Frozen Flow, which can forcefully put the enemy’s active Pokémon to the bench. This effect will activate when you put this card in the Active spot. Now, what this card does differently from trainers who have the same effect is that you can basically spam this skill over and over again once per turn, as long as it stays in the Active spot.
Vaporeon ex also has an offensive ability called Wave Splash. It can deal 80 damage and requires 2 Water Energy. Although it’s good, it’s not the most valuable point of this Pokémon. Most players would use the deck for its position-switching ability, which will make the battle annoying for the enemy.
How to Obtain Vaporeon Ex Card
Pokémon TCG Pocket offers many ways to obtain a Pokémon Card. To get Vaporeon ex, you can try to get the best of your luck by pulling the Meg Lucario Pack in the Pulsing Aura expansion of Pokémon TCG Pocket. Do note that it has a 4-diamond rarity, which may require you to spend some currencies.
Another way to obtain Vaporeon ex is through crafting. For just 500 Pack Points, you can get this card. Since the points are obtained or accumulated separately, be sure to open lots of booster packs from the latest expansion (Pulsing Aura). Trading 5000 Shinedust is also doable to get one Vaporeon ex card.
Best Vaporeon ex Decks
Talking about the deck variations of Vaporeon ex, there are not many of them unfortunately. Since the value of this card shines only for its disrupting ability, there are not many Pokémon that can harmonize with it. One that’s likely the best to work together with Vaporeon ex is Suicune ex. See the deck combination below.
Vaporeon ex and Suicune ex
Suicune ex brings a unique combination of a deck you can use in Pokémon TCG Pocket. Since Vaporeon ex works best as a supporter, you’ll need some Pokémon that can deliver a punch. One Pokémon that’s in mind is Suicune ex. This Pokémon is pretty durable with 140 HP and able to draw an extra card as long as it stays in the Active spot. Suicune ex is also a basic Pokémon, meaning you could use it right away without evolution.
Having a Vaporeon ex in your deck means that you can get free Sabrina cards. The only difference is that you can aggressively spam the skill to annoy the enemy. With Suicune ex around, it’s possible for you to deliver chip damage to the enemy, although your benched Pokémon will receive it as well.
To complete the set, we include Greninja ex into the harmony. What this Pokémon does is switch your active Pokémon with benched Pokémon. With that in mind, you can always switch Vaporeon ex and Suicune ex positions to enable their abilities. Putting the Greninja ex on the bench is just enough to activate this cycle.
With the two Pokémon constantly switching positions, their abilities will always be active per turn. The enemy will be forced to reposition their Pokémon, while you can get extra an card to draw every time.
What You’ll Need
To build this deck, you’ll need all three mentioned Pokémon. Since you’ll be using Vaporeon ex, don’t forget the basic Eevee for evolution. Put two of them inside the deck. With Vaporeon ex, you’ll basically get free Sabrina each turn, meaning you don’t need her trainer card anymore. To support the deck, you may include Cyrus and Irida for her healing. Other than that, have some mandatory items, like Professor's Research, Poke Ball, and Inflatable Boat. For those who want to complete the required cards for this deck, just depend on Lootbar.
The Best Way to Use Vaporeon ex Dec
The best way to use Vaporeon ex is to use it as early as possible. This Pokémon can provide enough support to build a second attacker, like Greninja ex or Suicune ex. You can spam its skill over and over again to make time for your offense. However, since Vaporeon ex requires Eevee’s evolution, you’ll need to have it first as fast as you can. To help you draw the card, depend on Suicune ex for an extra. If both Pokémon are already set, go for Greninja ex to set up a second attacker immediately.
Countering Vaporeon ex Deck
Since the Vaporeon ex decks consist mostly of ex Pokémon, there’s nothing better to counter them than Pom-Pom Oricorio. Its ability will negate any incoming damage from ex Pokémon. So putting it on active will force the enemy to switch Vaporeon ex with another Pokémon they have. Since Vaporeon ex will be at the bench most of the time, having a Pokémon that can deal damage to its position is the ideal option here.
Conclusion
Vaporeon ex is indeed a great card to have, especially for those who love Water-type Pokémon, specifically Vaporeon. It works best as support rather than an attacker because its ability can be really annoying most of the time. By spamming skills similar to Sabrina’s, you’ll always disrupt the enemy’s positioning, making them reorganize their Pokémon throughout the battle. So, having this card is highly recommended, especially today when there are a lot of metas around. If you’re planning to build this deck, there’s nothing better than making a Pokémon TCG Pocket top up to get Vaporeon ex, Suicune ex, and Greninja ex.
