If you've been around MapleStory long enough, you already know how big these summer showcases get. Every year Nexon gets on stage and lays out everything coming in the next big update. This summer's version is called OVERDRIVE, and the hype around it is genuinely hard to ignore.
Tickets for the live event were sold out in under a minute, which really shows how excited the MapleStory community right now. Event Date, Venue & How to Watch
The whole showcase streams live on the official MapleStory YouTube and Nexon Live at the same time as the in-person event. Just check your time zone before June 13 because 4:00 PM KST hits at midnight for Western Europe and early morning on the US East Coast.
Lotte Cinema Screenings
For players in Korea who did not get a ticket, Nexon opened up Lotte Cinema screenings at multiple locations nationwide. Additional screening venues were also added after the original slots filled up fast, which gives you an idea of how much demand there is for this one.
Attendee & Viewer Rewards
One of the biggest things people always ask about with these showcases is what rewards you can actually get. Here's the breakdown of what's been confirmed so far depending on how you're watching.
- In-Person Attendees
Signature ticket containing 15,000 Nexon Cash plus a physical cheering light stick to use during the event. - Lotte Cinema Viewers
Signature ticket containing 12,000 Nexon Cash, slightly less than in-person, but still a solid chunk of free NX. - Online Stream Viewers
Specific online viewer rewards haven't been confirmed yet, but past showcases have always included codes or login bonuses tied to the stream. Stay tuned. - Summer Countdown Event
Separate from the showcase itself, running for 7 weeks total, with rewards including Sol Erda, Sol Erda Fragments, and various cosmetic items.
Nexon also ran a raffle for 100 free admission spots to the live event. If you entered, results should've been announced before the event date. Membership codes required for ticket purchases were distributed to characters at level 270 or higher starting May 7 — so the gate was set pretty high this time around. Between the showcase rewards and the Summer Countdown event, there's a decent amount of free NX and Sol Erda coming your way this season. Stack that with a top-up on LootBar for discounted MapleStory NX and you'll have more than enough to cover whatever the summer update brings to the Cash Shop.
Pre-Showcase Events Running Now
You don't have to wait until June 13 to start getting something out of the OVERDRIVE season. A bunch of events and content are already live or rolling out in the weeks leading up to the showcase.
Event Boss: Jin
Jin is a Lv.260 event boss, the third and final part of the MapleStory x Jin collaboration. You can fight him solo or bring up to two other players. What makes this boss different is the Maple Leaf mechanic: as you fight, Maple Leaves will fall on the ground. If you pick up the Maple Leaves it will increase the damage you do at the end of the fight. But if Jin hits you with one of his attacks you will drop the Maple Leaves you have picked up.
Jin's attack patterns are inspired by classic MapleStory skills, he's been playing the game for years and asked for the boss design himself, so it's a fun nod to the game's history.
Guaranteed Drops Every Run
- 2 Sol Erda (Untradeable, 7-day duration — usable by Lv.260+ characters who've completed 6th job)
- 20 Sol Erda Fragments (Untradeable, Permanent)
RNG Drop Pool (Tradeable Once Before Use)
- Illusion Ring: Giant Head Voucher
- Illusion Ring: Giant Body Voucher
- Me Behind Me Voucher
- You Above Me Voucher
- Colossal Sword / Hand Axe / Wooden Club Voucher
- Selective Magnificent Dragon Roar's Soul Voucher, lets you pick between 3% ATT or 3% M.ATT version
Maple Yut Minigame
Supernatural Yut is back, a 1v1 board game you can queue into while grinding, hanging out in town, or sitting in the sauna. No participation limit during the event period (May 14 – May 27). Minimum level 101 to join, and you need to have participated in the Maple Attack! event first.
The game itself is straightforward: throw the yut sticks, move your pieces along the board, and get all 4 pieces to the finish line before your opponent does. Each game starts you off with 2 random one-time superpowers you can use before throwing. Landing a Yut or Mo, or capturing an opponent's piece, gives you a bonus throw. Matchmaking is cross-world and works on hunting maps, towns, and VIP/MVP areas.
Rewards (cumulative plays):
- 1 play — Maple Attack Yut Chair
- 5 plays — Selective Maple Attack Headband Voucher
- 10 plays — Together with My Friend Yeti (Permanent) Voucher
- 20 plays — Desert Rabbit Damage Skin
World's Best Punch King Season 4
Punch King is back exactly one year after the last season. If you have played this game before the idea is really easy to understand. You just have to hit the monster hard as you can and do as much damage as possible to it within the time limit. Then your score will be recorded. This season is a little different, instead of fighting a lot of monster levels like we did before now you only have to beat one monster. Nexon said this change makes the event a more accurate measure of your actual strength, cutting out some of the multi-stage complexity that made older seasons feel drawn out.
Ranking Rewards:
- Rank 1 — Season 4 World's Best Medal Voucher + World's Best Season 4 Effect Voucher + Furniture Voucher
- Rank 2–10 — Season 4 World's Best Medal Voucher
Reverse Dimensional Tower
The Dimensional Tower is back with a new twist. You're now going down instead of up, starting from the very top and descending to the bottom to find Elwin. Event runs May 14 – June 17, minimum Lv.101 to enter. All buffs are stripped on entry.
There are 4 stages total across both modes:
- Dimensional Tower Stage 1 & 2 (bottom to top, original format)
- Reverse Dimensional Tower Stage 1 & 2 (top to bottom, new format)
You need to clear Stage 1 before Stage 2 opens. If you already cleared the original Dimensional Tower Stage 1 before or have the "I'm the Best Climber" medal, you can skip straight to Stage 2. The key mechanic in the Reverse version: fall damage is real. Drop too far at once and you take damage. Hit 0 HP and you're sent back to the very top; no checkpoint, start over. Crouch in place to peek at what's below before you drop. Your descent progress, furthest distance reached, and time are all tracked on the UI.
Rewards (one-time per character):
- Clear all 4 stages — Dimensional Tower Conqueror Medal
- Clear Reverse Stage 1 — (Reverse) I'm the Best Climber Title
- Clear Reverse Stage 2 — (Reverse) TOP of the Dimension Title
- Clear Original Stage 1 — I'm the Best Climber Medal
- Clear Original Stage 2 — TOP of the Dimension Medal
Maple Point Shop
A new shop where you spend Maple Points directly on in-game items. Minimum Lv.101 to access. Runs May 14 – June 17, accessible through the Event List.
Available Items (Resets Weekly)
- Mecha-Berry Farm Entry Ticket — 10,000 Maple Points (max 2 per week)
- Sol Erda — 2,000 Maple Points (max 5 per week)
The Sol Erda option is especially worth noting, that's a direct way to convert MP into 6th-job progression materials, which is huge if you've got Maple Points sitting around from past purchases. If you can only focus on a few of these, prioritize the Jin Boss daily for guaranteed Sol Erda, start the Summer Countdown immediately so you don't miss time-gated tiers, and check the Maple Point Shop weekly if you have MP to spare. Punch King and the Tower are more one-time things you can knock out at your own pace.
Final Thoughts
OVERDRIVE is one of those showcases that actually feels like it matters. New director, fresh priorities, and a content slate built around getting more people into the game. That's a combination that doesn't come around every summer. Whether you've been grinding daily or haven't touched the game in months, June 13 is worth blocking off.
Tune in live, pick up whatever freebies Nexon throws at viewers, and in the meantime use the pre-showcase events to warm your account back up before the big patch lands. And when the Cash Shop inevitably goes crazy after the reveals, make sure your NX is already stacked use MapleStory Top Up through LootBar ahead of time so you're not scrambling when the update drops.
