LOL Wild Rift: Patch 7.2 New Champions Cho'Gath & Yunara

LOL Wild Rift Patch 7.2 will drop on July 9, 2026, and we're getting a look at a pair of new champions coming to the mobile MOBA in this update. Though LOL Wild Rift Patch 7.2 will have a tighter release cycle than its previous iterations, Riot is taking advantage of this in order to beef up the available roster two new completely different champions just before their much more expansive 7.3 update later in the year. Yunara the Unbroken Faith, and Cho'Gath the Terror of the Void are this patch's most significant additions to theLOL Wild Rift lineup.

The duo comes with completely separate playstyles as Yunara introduces hybrid-damage marksman into the LOL Wild Rift, while the latter is a scaling tank that can end up being the largest champ in the game.

Wild Rift Patch 7.2 Release Date

Patch 7.2 is scheduled to release on July 9, 2026.

New champions, balance adjustments, a champion update, and general game enhancements were all added. The largest additions to the patch, the two new champions that most observers will be hoping to make their meta debut on release day are undoubtedly Yunara, and Cho'Gath.

Yunara, the Unbroken Faith

Yunara enters Wild Rift as an ADC that is able to offer a dual damage threat through a combination of physical damage and magic damage. She offers a refreshingly different play style from typical ADcs that are almost solely focused on Attack Damage scaling and as such provides a hybrid damage option that is still effective against heavily armored front lines but is able to threaten softer targets simultaneously.

Lol Wild Rift Yunara

Yunara's Playstyle

Yunara is expected to be played primarily in the Dragon Lane as a traditional ADC.

She primarily focuses on space keeping in fights while continuously auto-attacking to accumulate her passive special resource, Unleash. Skilled players at managing her position in team fights will find her among the marksmen with the highest sustained damage output. Since her attacks inherently deal bonus magic damage, she usually tends to overlook some of the problems which regular ADCs have versus tanks.

Yunara's Key Abilities

Another one of Yunara’s defining abilities comes in the form of her magic damage boost passive. For each basic auto-attack, she’s able to provide a burst of magic damage that scales off ofAbility Power. This allows Yunara to take hybrid builds.

Yunara accumulates stacks of Unleash as she hits enemy opponents. After she activates her Unleash, her attack speed is tremendously buffed, and her basic attacks can then cleave targets in a wide range. Her enhanced basic attacks can apply her on-hit effects and drain life from opponents, enabling her to deal a substantial amount of damage in prolonged clashes.

She also possesses slowing effects and vision-based utility that help control enemy movement and improve battlefield awareness for her team.

Will Yunara Be Meta?

Initial impressions lead us to believe Yunara is going to end up as one of the most potent anti-tank ADCs within the Wild Rift meta. Hybridizing damage type opens up item counterplay, whereas a team-fight heavy playstyle gives her scaling into the late game, making her the ideal ADC choice for positioning reliant mains.

Cho'Gath, the Terror of the Void

After endless community demand, Cho’Gath has finally come to Wild Rift! Cho’Gath is arguably the most popular tank throughout the League of Legends roster and brings a combination of sustain, crowd control, and infinite health scaling all rolled into one fearsome kit.

LOL Wild Rift Cho'Gath

Cho'Gath's Playstyle

Cho'Gath is expected to perform best in the Baron Lane, though some players may experiment with him in the Mid Lane depending on matchups.

His goal is to simply get through the early laning phase, scale into an Unstoppable Tank through his ultimate, and ultimately carry late game. As matches progress Cho'Gath becomes increasingly hard to deal with with stacking health and the disruption his kit provides.

Cho'Gath's Core Abilities

He has a passive called Carnivore, which provides health and mana regeneration whenever he secures any unit kills. This helps him stay alive in the lane and health without having to recall to base a lot.

His main cc ability is Rupture which sends the enemies flying into the air and makes it easier to set up team fights. Rupture can also be combined with the second ability of Udyr Feral Scream, that allows you to stun the enemies during the jump.

His most famous ability remains Feast.

Feast deals a large amount of true damage to a target. If Feast kills an enemy unit, Cho’Gath gains permanent max health, making him larger and tankier than most champions in the game by the end of the match.

His Vorpal Spikes further enhance his basic attacks, causing them to fire damaging spikes that slow enemies and provide additional magic damage.

Which Champion Should You Play?

That's entirely a matter of personal preference. Backline, damage, teamfight-carrying players are more likely to lean into Yunara and her insane scaling. The hero's hybrid auto attacks combined with her explosive Unleash have her looking like an immense threat later in the game.

However, the players who prefer engaging, tanking hits and playing objectives may want to get behindCho'Gath. His crowd control, massive durability and infinitely scaling stat line will sure make him as scary as the world eats in that match.

These two look like they'll be picked in spades withPatch 7.2 drop.

Final Thoughts

Though Wild Rift Patch 7.2 is quite an undersized one compared to the gigantic amount of content coming with the next patch (7.3), players will be quite satisfied to get their hands on two completely new champions to learn with the addition of Yunara and Cho’Gath in Wild Rift 7.2! The former’s hybrid-damage marksman playstyle has the capability to melt tanks and take over longer engagements, whereas the legendary Cho’Gath, famous for his “Feast” mechanic and huge frontline abilities, makes its entry into the Wild Rift.
