How to Find and Beat Cloudtreading Deer in Black Myth Wukong

The Cloudtreading Deer in Black Myth: Wukong is one of those Chapter 6 bosses that sneaks up on you with its mix of wind, frost, and then straight-up poison mechanics. It sits in the Foothills as a Yaoguai Chief, and taking it down gives you a solid piece of the Lotus Silk Cloudtreaders armor along with other useful materials. The fight splits into two clear phases, and the arena changes hard once that second phase hits.

Here, you'll learn the exact path to the Deer Sight Forest shrine, what gear and resistances actually matter, how to defeat Cloudtreading Deer, and rewards.

Cloudtreading Deer Location in Black Myth: Wukong Chapter 6

Locating Cloudtreading Deer is pretty straightforward once you're deep into the Foothills. I usually come from the Verdant Path area or right after handling the Gold Armored Rhino and the Poison Chiefs nearby. From there, mount the Somersault Cloud and head toward the red trees you can see in the distance. You'll spot the clearing with the lightning strikes pretty quickly.

Cloudtreading Deer LocationActivate the Deer Sight Forest Keeper's Shrine on the left side as you enter that open area. Once that's done, just walk straight toward the big central tree. The Cloudtreading Deer is waiting right underneath it.

Preparing for the Cloudtreading Deer Boss Fight

Black Myth: Wukong Cloudtreading Deer punishes you hard if you ignore status effects, so resistance items are non-negotiable.

  • Stock up on Body-Warming Powder for the frost and chill buildup in Phase 1.
  • Grab Antimiasma Powder (or equivalent poison resistance pills) for Phase 2 blood pools.
  • Curios or armor pieces that boost chill and poison resistance help a ton too — I swapped in whatever gave me extra margin there.

The real game-changer is the Wind Tamer vessel you picked up back in Chapter 2. Equip it before the fight starts. It gives wind immunity and basically deletes the tornadoes that make Phase 1 miserable.

For spells, Immobilize is excellent for locking the deer down during big damage windows, and Cloud Step helps you close the gap when it tries to kite you.

Cloudtreading Deer Phase 1 Strategy and Attacks

Cloudtreading Deer Phase 1 is all about wind and frost. The deer likes to keep its distance, so it will horn shove or do a horn whirlwind that sends a wind burst your way. When it rears up and holds for a second or two, that's your cue it's about to slam down and send frost ripples across the ground — dodge or jump that.

Cloudtreading Deer Phase 1 Immobilize

The big pain point is when its health drops around the 70% mark (or sometimes earlier). It screams, spawns multiple tornadoes around the arena, and starts leaping through the air before slamming down with a frost shockwave. Those tornadoes roam and push you, plus they build chill if you get caught.

Here's what worked for me:

Cloudtreading Deer Phase 1 fight

  • Pop the Wind Tamer the moment the tornadoes appear. It clears most of the problem instantly.
  • Lure the boss away from the remaining whirlwinds so you have clean space to fight.
  • When it starts leaping (usually a few jumps then a big slam), stay patient, dodge the final impact, and punish hard while it's recovering.
  • Use Immobilize during these openings for free damage.
If you end up behind it, watch for the back kick — it will buck you away fast.

Cloudtreading Deer's Phase 1 defeat

Stay aggressive here. The faster you burn through Phase 1, the more resources you keep for what's coming next. Don't finish full light attack combos if it's about to counter — the deer punishes greed.

Surviving Cloudtreading Deer's Phase 2 Blood Assault

Once you drop the health bar in Phase 1, the Cloudtreading Deer revives with full HP and the fight flips. Blood spills everywhere, the ground gets covered in poison pools, and new attacks come out. Standing in that blood applies Poison Bane and melts your health over time, so treat every red patch like lava.

Cloudtreading Deer's Phase 2

The deer now summons floating blood balls that contract and home in on you. These can also poison on hit. It still has the front leg stomp, but now it plants into blood and forces you into the poison if you're too close. Zhu Bajie shows up in this phase to help out — that's a nice surprise the first time it happens.

My approach here:

Cloudtreading Deer's Phase 2 fight

  • Immediately start dodging or circling to avoid the blood pools. Use Cloud Step to reposition safely.
  • For the homing blood balls, run in wide circles and dodge at the last second, or use Staff Spin to block them if they're coming from range.
  • Let Zhu Bajie draw some aggro when you can. You don't have to stand right on top of the boss the whole time — hang back a bit, let him do work, then jump in when the deer is focused elsewhere.
  • Save a strong Immobilize or other big spell for when the deer is vulnerable after a big attack. The Wind Tamer can still help knock it down temporarily.
  • Bait the boss toward cleaner ground so you're not fighting inside poison the entire time.

The phase feels chaotic at first, but once you stop standing in blood and respect the projectiles, it becomes very manageable. I had way more trouble with the tornadoes in Phase 1 than the blood once I had the right powders and vessel ready.

Black Myth: Wukong Cloudtreading Deer Rewards

Beating Black Myth: Wukong Cloudtreading Deer gives you:

  • A decent chunk of Will
  • 2 Cold Iron Leaves
  • Fine Gold Thread
  • Mind Core
  • Lotus Silk Cloudtreaders (the leg piece of the Lotus Silk / Sun Wukong armor set)

That armor piece boosts maximum stamina by 30 and gives some nice bonuses to critical hit chance and spell cooldown reduction.

Conclusion: Cloudtreading Deer Fight in Black Myth: Wukong

Taking down the Cloudtreading Deer in Black Myth: Wukong feels like a proper milestone once it's over. The two-phase shift from wind and frost to blood and poison really forces you to stay flexible with your vessel and resistances, and nailing the timing on those leaps and projectiles makes the whole thing click.

Once you've conquered this and want to jump back into the game or share the experience with friends, a Black Myth: Wukong Steam Key from Lootbar is a straightforward option that fits right into gearing up for these adventures.
