Genshin Impact Valeriy Build Guide, Weapons & Team Comps

Valeriy is a 4-star Electro Sword user who works as an off-field support, built around a strong Electro shield and team buffs. His kit runs on Impact Momentum, which he gains from his Elemental Skill and spends on a special Charged Attack that gives the team Offensive Directive stacks. With the new Stellar-Conduct reaction, these stacks hit harder in teams that can create a Polestar Field, so he fits best next to an Electro DPS. This Valeriy build guide covers his talent priorities, best weapons and artifacts, team compositions, and constellation value.

  • Valeriy Gameplay

Valeriy’s gameplay revolves around building and spending Impact Momentum to power up his entire team’s Electro damage. He keeps a strong Electro shield up while handing out buffs from off the field. His kit focuses on using his Elemental Skill, Elemental Burst, and special Charged Attack every rotation, which makes him a dedicated support for Electro Stellar-Conduct teams.

His Elemental Skill: Active Defense: Bastion Charge deals AoE Electro DMG, gives him 40 Impact Momentum, and puts up a Supercharged Shield that has 250% absorption efficiency against Electro DMG. His Elemental Burst: Focused Fire: Lightning Salvo then fires a Thunderburst Shell into the air, and it breaks into a barrage of projectiles that deal AoE Electro DMG. While those shells are falling, his passive talent Advance With the Creeping Barrage gives him 5 more Impact Momentum each time another active party member hits an enemy with Electro. Once he has at least 40 Impact Momentum, his Charged Attack becomes the special Charged Attack: Direct-Fire Mortar: Point-Blank Bombardment, which uses up all his Impact Momentum and gives him 15 stacks of Offensive Directive for 18 seconds. This makes a simple rotation of Skill, Burst, and Charged Attack before swapping out.

Offensive Directive is what makes Valeriy a strong buffer. Valeriy enters the Radiance: Stellar-Conduct state when he stands inside a Polestar Field, which appears when the Stellar-Conduct reaction is triggered. In this state, each stack is used when the active character deals Electro DMG that counts as Stellar-Conduct DMG, which raises that damage based on his ATK. Outside of this state, the stacks boost any Electro DMG instead, but the bonus is lower. His passive talent Into the Breach rewards spending more Impact Momentum, giving 0.9% of his ATK per point in the Radiance state and 0.3% outside it. Valeriy works best when he is paired with an Electro DPS who often triggers Stellar-Conduct, when his shield is up before the team starts attacking, and when he stays close to full Impact Momentum before using his Charged Attack.

Valeriy Talent Priority

Valeriy’s talent priority focuses primarily on his Elemental Skill, as it controls the strength of his Supercharged Shield and is the center of his support role. His Normal Attack comes next, as leveling it raises the Offensive Directive bonuses that he gives to the whole team through his special Charged Attack. His Elemental Burst is the lowest priority, as its talent levels mostly raise his own damage, which is not what he is built for.

TalentRecommended Level
Elemental Skill (Active Defense: Bastion Charge)9-10
Normal Attack (Guard Tactics: Sword and Shield)9-10
Elemental Burst (Focused Fire: Lightning Salvo)1-6
  • Elemental Skill - Active Defense: Bastion Charge

Valeriy’s Elemental Skill is his highest priority. Leveling it raises the damage absorbed by his Supercharged Shield, which scales with his ATK. It is also the talent he uses to gain Impact Momentum at the start of every rotation. Since the shield is the main reason to bring him, this talent gives the best return and should be leveled first.

  • Normal Attack - Guard Tactics: Sword and Shield

Valeriy’s Normal Attack is his second priority. Leveling it raises the Electro DMG Bonus and the Stellar-Conduct DMG Bonus that come from Offensive Directive, which are the buffs he gives to his teammates after he uses his special Charged Attack: Direct-Fire Mortar: Point-Blank Bombardment. He should use this Charged Attack every rotation, so these buffs are active all the time and are worth investing in.

  • Elemental Burst - Focused Fire: Lightning Salvo

Valeriy’s Elemental Burst is his lowest priority. Its main roles are to provide off-field Electro application and to let him gain extra Impact Momentum from teammates’ Electro hits. Its talent levels only raise the damage of the Burst and the Thunderburst Shells, so it is safe to leave at a low level without hurting the team’s damage. Building enough Energy Recharge to use it every rotation matters more than its level.

Valeriy Best Weapons

To get the most out of Valeriy, prioritize ATK, Energy Recharge, and Shield Strength. His shield and his team buffs all scale with his ATK, and he needs enough Energy Recharge to use his Elemental Burst every rotation. Weapons that give high Base ATK, boost his shield, or help him meet his Energy Recharge needs will always do better on him than weapons that only add personal damage.

Valeriy Best Artifacts & Stats

To get the most out of Valeriy as an off-field support, artifact choices should prioritize ATK%, enough Energy Recharge to cast his Elemental Burst every rotation, and buffs for the whole team. Since his main job is to give a strong shield and boost his teammates’ Electro and Stellar-Conduct DMG based on his ATK, the best sets are those that raise his ATK and strengthen the team’s Stellar-Conduct damage rather than adding to his personal damage.

Valeriy Best Team Compositions

Valeriy performs best in teams built around Electro Stellar-Conduct, where his shield and his buffs get the most value. He is mainly played as an off-field support, relying on an Electro DPS to trigger Stellar-Conduct often so that his Polestar Field stays active and his Radiance: Stellar-Conduct state keeps his Offensive Directive stacks strong. Since his buffs only help Electro damage, he works best with a main DPS that deals a lot of Electro or Stellar-Conduct damage, plus teammates that give Cryo application, ATK buffs, and RES Shred. He is also a good fit for teams that need a reliable shield while the DPS stays on the field.

Valeriy Constellations

Valeriy is already fully functional at C0 as an off-field support, with access to his Supercharged Shield, his Offensive Directive buffs, and his special Charged Attack every rotation. His constellations mainly improve his team support by giving more Energy, stronger shields, and extra buffs, rather than changing how he plays. Among them, C2 stands out as his best early investment because it gives the whole team Elemental Mastery and makes his shield much stronger, while C4 lets him build Impact Momentum faster and hold more of it. C6 serves as his strongest late-game investment, since it greatly boosts the damage of his key attacks and adds CRIT bonuses for Electro Stellar-Conduct teams.

Constellation Performance

ConstellationRatingReason
C1★★★Regenerates 6 Energy after the special Charged Attack, plus 1.5 more for every 10 Impact Momentum used beyond 40, up to 15 Energy every 15s. The first time he uses his Elemental Skill after entering combat, he also gains an extra 150% Impact Momentum. This makes his Burst easier to use, but it does not change his buffs much.
C2★★★★★Gives all nearby party members 100 Elemental Mastery for 18s after he uses his Elemental Skill. Extra Impact Momentum at maximum is turned into shield strength, adding 8% of his ATK per point, up to 20 points. This is the best early stopping point for most players.
C4★★★★Raises the Impact Momentum limit by 30 and its charging efficiency by 30%. The cap on Impact Momentum he can gain from Advance With the Creeping Barrage also goes up to 104. This helps him use the special Charged Attack and keep up his buffs with ease.
C6★★★★★Valeriy’s strongest constellation. The special Charged Attack and the Thunderburst Shells deal 100% more DMG, and enemies they hit take 10% more CRIT Rate from Electro DMG for 7s. If the Electro DMG is Stellar-Conduct reaction DMG, its CRIT DMG is also raised by 40%. This is a big upgrade for Electro Stellar-Conduct teams.

Constellation Effect

ConstellationEffect
C1

"The Cadence of Suppressive Fire"

Valeriy regenerates 6 Elemental Energy after performing the special Charged Attack Direct-Fire Mortar: Point-Blank Bombardment. For every 10 Impact Momentum consumed beyond 40 when performing this special Charged Attack, he regenerates an additional 1.5 Elemental Energy. Each time he performs Direct-Fire Mortar: Point-Blank Bombardment, he can regenerate up to 15 Elemental Energy in this way. This effect can trigger once every 15s.Additionally, each time Valeriy enters combat, the first time he uses his Elemental Skill Active Defense: Bastion Charge, he gains an additional amount of Impact Momentum equal to 150% of the amount normally gained.

C2

"Ranks That Charge as One"

All nearby party members gain 100 Elemental Mastery for 18s after Valeriy uses his Elemental Skill Active Defense: Bastion Charge.Additionally, while protected by a Supercharged Shield, if Valeriy is already at maximum Impact Momentum, any further Impact Momentum he would gain is instead converted into increased DMG Absorption for the shield. Each point of excess Impact Momentum increases the Supercharged Shield's DMG Absorption by an amount equal to 8% of Valeriy's ATK. Up to 20 excess Impact Momentum can be converted in this way.

C3

"Vigilance at Close Quarters"

Increases the Level of Normal Attack Guard Tactics: Sword and Shield by 3.Maximum upgrade level is 15.

C4

"Fortitude Unshaken by Attrition"

Impact Momentum's limit is increased by 30, and its charging efficiency is increased by 30%.Additionally, the Ascension Talent Advance With the Creeping Barrage is enhanced: The maximum amount of Impact Momentum that can be gained from this Talent after using the Elemental Burst is 104. You must unlock the Ascension Talent Advance With the Creeping Barrage to gain access to this effect.

C5

"Resolve to Divide and Destroy"

Increases the Level of the Elemental Skill Active Defense: Bastion Charge by 3.Maximum upgrade level is 15.

C6

"The Strength to Breach Enemy Lines"

The special Charged Attack Direct-Fire Mortar: Point-Blank Bombardment and Thunderburst Shells from Elemental Burst Focused Fire: Lightning Salvo are enhanced: Their DMG is increased by 100%, and opponents they hit have the CRIT Rate of Electro DMG they take increased by 10% for 7s. If the Electro DMG taken is Stellar-Conduct reaction DMG, that DMG instance's CRIT DMG is also increased by 40%.

Conclusion

Valeriy is an Electro Sword support who excels at shielding the team and buffing Electro Stellar-Conduct damage through his Impact Momentum and Offensive Directive stacks. He performs best in teams built around an Electro DPS that triggers Stellar-Conduct often, with Cryo application, ATK buffs, and RES Shred rounding out his ideal compositions.

He is fully functional at C0, with C2 being his best early stopping point for its team-wide Elemental Mastery and stronger shield, and C6 his strongest late-game investment through the 100% DMG boost and CRIT bonuses for Stellar-Conduct hits.
