Cloudforged is a free 4-star bow introduced in Genshin Impact Version 4.7. At Level 90, it provides 165 Elemental Mastery and can grant even more EM whenever the wielder loses Elemental Energy. While Sethos has the best synergy with its passive, reaction-focused characters such as Tighnari, Venti, Collei, and Burgeon Amber can also use it effectively in the right teams. This updated guide covers the best Cloudforged characters, how to get the weapon, its R5 refinement, ascension materials, useful alternatives, and whether it is still worth leveling today.

Weapon Story
The ancients say that the mountains of Mt. Tianheng are filled with gems, and the depths of The Chasm are rich with jade. The nation of a thousand hills has long been known for its abundance, And its most critical mining and smelting facilities are located in Blackcliff Forge, carved into Mt. Tianheng itself.
The Forge was constructed by excavating the mountains, with countless workshops, furnaces, and connecting tunnels blasted black by dust.
In the tumultuous years when the fires of war dyed the land red, this place was also where the ancestors of the mountain tribes sought shelter.
It is even said that long-forgotten passages are within, tunnels to an ancient underground realm that lies in the deep places beneath the earth...
According to the Stone Tablet Compilations, the first to carve the darkened paths through the mountains was the founder of the famous Yun family of Liyue.
From that time hence, their clan, a house of smiths, has taken its place on the stage of history, regarded as honored progenitors by countless generations of artisans thereafter.
As for the stories of that person, the annals of history leave but a scant few lines— "Such was Yun's ingenious craft that wood and bamboo might be carved into birds who would fly for three days without landing. Such were the works considered the apex of artisanry."
The study of mechanisms and the art of forging were all initially inextricably intertwined with the adepti. As such, the founder was oft regarded as an apprentice of the adepti, and the techniques employed by said founder considered adepti teachings.
The tale most widely known today is that this personage once fought alongside Rex Lapis on campaign, And having accomplished much, was acknowledged by three adepti, one after the other, and was granted instruction in secret mechanical arts.
Legend has it that these divine techniques were such that even clouds could be plucked from the skies with which manses might be molded, And even the rotting, wasting wood could be fashioned into moving birds and beasts, so alike to life as to confound the observing eye.
As such, the phrase "The Blackcliff, forged from clouds" has long been widely known in Liyue, And poets and storytellers have long delighted in the contrast between the two images. Though the legend of "cloud-forging" is a fanciful latter-day play on the family name "Yun" meaning "cloud," None dispute that the rest of the founder's life was dedicated to the Blackcliff Forge and the teaching of craftsmanship.
At life and legend's end, the founder ascended in heavenly light, becoming the guardian star of artisanry. Still, legends are naught but legends. It was no adeptal art that built the Forge, nor was it woven of whisps of wind and cloud.
Instead, it was chiseled out one flake and one hammerstroke at a time, by the pouring sweat of countless ordinary artisans' brows over long centuries.
Deus Auri's contract never stipulated that mortal resolve could never surpass adeptal miracles, after all.
"Such was Yun's ingenious craft that wood and bamboo might be carved into birds who would fly for three days without landing. Such were the works considered the apex of artisanry."
"Yet Yun's life and career were spent working rock into workshops, and molding clouds into manses. Thus was the Blackcliff forged in Tianheng, that the well-being of all the people might be served."
"For thus Yun said: What is clever? And what is clumsy? That which benefits the people is clever, and that which does otherwise is clumsy."
Cloudforged Best Characters
Not every bow character benefits from Cloudforged equally. Sethos has the best direct synergy, while Amber, Tighnari, Venti, and Collei can make good use of its Elemental Mastery in specific teams.
| Character | Cloudforged Value | Best Use |
Sethos | Best Fit | Aggravate / Charged Shot |
Amber | Good | Burgeon |
Tighnari | Good | Spread |
Venti | Good | Swirl / Reaction builds |
Collei | Good | Dendro reaction teams |
Ororon | Situational | Reaction-focused teams |
Fischl | Situational | Aggravate |
Ganyu | Situational | Melt |
Yoimiya | Situational | Vaporize |
Jahoda | Situational | Swirl-focused setups |
Sethos – Best Cloudforged User
Sethos is the character who uses Cloudforged's passive most naturally. His Black Kite's Enigma passive lets a Shadowpiercing Shot consume up to 20 Elemental Energy to charge much faster, which also activates Cloudforged during his normal rotation. He also benefits greatly from the extra EM in Quicken and Aggravate teams, making him the weapon's best overall user.
Still, Cloudforged is not automatically his best weapon. R5 Slingshot is extremely strong on Sethos and generally deals more personal damage thanks to its CRIT Rate and Charged Attack bonus. Cloudforged is better viewed as a comfortable event option, especially if you already leveled it to R5.
Amber
Amber can use Cloudforged effectively in Burgeon teams, where Elemental Mastery is especially valuable. Its 165 EM secondary stat already helps her reaction damage, though the weapon is much less useful for Charged Attack or Melt builds that prefer CRIT, ATK, and direct damage bonuses.
Tighnari
Tighnari benefits from Cloudforged's Elemental Mastery in Spread teams, and his Burst can activate one passive stack. However, he cannot consume Energy as easily as Sethos, so he rarely gets the full two-stack bonus and has stronger weapon options available.
Venti and Collei
Venti and Collei can both use Cloudforged in reaction-focused teams. Venti benefits from its EM in Swirl builds, while Collei can use it in Dendro reaction teams, and both can activate a stack after using their Burst. However, neither can use the Energy mechanic as consistently as Sethos.
Other Situational Cloudforged Users
Fischl, Ororon, Ganyu, Yoimiya, and Jahoda can use Cloudforged in certain reaction-focused teams, but they generally have better weapon options. Fischl and Ororon can benefit from EM in Electro reactions, Ganyu can use it for Melt, Yoimiya for Vaporize, and Jahoda for Swirl, though Cloudforged is rarely their first choice.
How to Get Cloudforged in Genshin Impact
Cloudforged was originally a free reward from Mutual Security Enhancing Simulation, a limited event released during Version 4.7. Players earned Analysis Progress by completing the event's Assault and Defense scenarios.
How Cloudforged Was Originally Obtained
Cloudforged was unlocked at 300 Analysis Progress, while later milestones rewarded Cam and Cables of Law for reaching R5.
| Analysis Progress | Reward |
| 300 | |
| 600 | |
| 900 | |
| 1,200 | |
| 1,500 |
Can You Get Cloudforged Now?
Cloudforged cannot currently be obtained in Genshin Impact. Mutual Security Enhancing Simulation ended after Version 4.7, and the bow has no permanent acquisition method through Wishes, crafting, shops, or exploration. Players who claimed it during the event can still use and upgrade it, but anyone who missed it currently has no way to obtain a new copy.
How to Refine Cloudforged to R5
Cloudforged uses Cam and Cables of Law instead of duplicate weapons for refinement. Four copies were available during the Version 4.7 event, and there is currently no permanent way to obtain missing refinement materials.
Conclusion
Cloudforged remains useful, but its best users are fairly limited. Sethos has the strongest synergy with its Energy mechanic, while Amber, Tighnari, Venti, and Collei can make good use of its Elemental Mastery in reaction teams. Since the Version 4.7 event has ended, new players cannot obtain Cloudforged or its refinement materials right now. If you are preparing future characters or Wishes, LootBar also offers Genshin Impact top up options for adding Genesis Crystals when needed.
