Not being able to secure a license from FIFA isn’t stopping EA from loading FC 26 with content ahead of the 2026 World Cup this month. They already released a new mode based around the tournament called The World’s Game today, along with a dedicated World Cup-based promo called Path To Glory soon afterward. But this is just the start of it all.
According to EA’s official teasers and leaked info from reliable sources, there’s much more coming to celebrate the World Cup. Here’s a breakdown of everything we know so far, including features and upcoming players. All FC 26 Players Will Be Getting A Free Pele to Evo!
Much like the free Zidane and Maradona cards in FC 25 that players could evo, we’ll be getting another free ICON this year thanks to the World Cup. And what better ICON to choose for that than Pele himself, who has the most World Cup trophies in history and is arguably the greatest ever. EA have officially confirmed that all players will get a free Pele card that is 93-OVR (with Technical+ and Quick Step+).
Like Maradona the year before, there will be three paths to his evolutions that you can choose to tailor Pele to your team. The ST path will give him Low Driven+, the RW path will give him Finesse+, and the CM path will give him Incisive+. All three paths will obviously offer different stat boosts and silver Playstyles too, such as a huge boost to his Defending stats for the CM version. Here’s when each upgrade will release:
- 5 June: Position & 3rd PS+ (Pick between 3)
- 27 June: +1 OVR
- 11 July: 5* WF
- 15 July: +1 OVR
- 19 July: +1 OVR & 4th PS+

You can expect to see Pele in a lot of teams, but he’s not the only free card EA are giving away. We’re getting a lot more throughout the World Cup too, including a free 88-OVR Winter Wildcard Ronaldinho (from the SBC some months ago). A completely free Ronaldinho is huge at any point of the game thanks to evolutions, especially with the great new ones in the Token Store, which we’ll talk more about after this. For now, other free cards you can look forward to are a 94-OVR Depay, a 94-OVR Fermin, a 94-OVR Rayan, and more.
Tokens Have Been Added To FC 26
EA have added a brand-new feature to the game ahead of the World Cup. Players can now complete objectives, play games, and do exchange SBCs to earn Festival of Football Tokens. This is a new type of currency that you can spend on the Token Store! This store will be updated with exclusive cards, packs, and evolutions regularly.
If you look at FUT Champs rewards, you’ll also see Champions Tokens. These are another separate type of token that will have their own exclusive store. You’ll only be able to earn Champions Tokens by playing FUT Champs, with 1500 as a reward for Elite 1. The type of cards and items available in this store haven’t been revealed yet.
You Can Now Undo Evos on Cards Too!
Everyone probably has that one evo’d player in their team that’s a club legend, but sits on the bench lately because they don’t fit in new evos. Well, you don’t have to worry about that anymore. Any of your old evolved players can fit new evolutions now since it’s completely possible to remove evos from players. Just press the right stick while hovering over a player to open a menu that gives you several options.
In this menu, you’ll now have the option to either take away only the last evolution, or any and all evolutions on the card since the start. The latter option will not only reset the card completely, but we can confirm it even makes tradeable cards tradeable again! So, if you have an evo you’re not using but the base card is worth some serious coins, you’ll be able to sell them after reverting the evo!
Playstyles and Playstyles+ Lab is Now in FC 26!
Much like the FUT Birthday cards that let you mix and match your favourite Playstyles together, there’s a similar feature here before the World Cup. This Evo Lab lets you customize several types of cards, which include FUT Birthday, Glory Hunters, and other rarity cards. You’ll be able to choose your own silver and gold Playstyles to add to them.
It’s especially great with the new undo evolution feature, since you’ll be able to buy these cards and test them out with different Playstyle combinations. You can keep testing until you find the perfect match, or just sell the card if you decide you don’t like it much.
