Koraidon ex - An Overview
Koraidon ex is one of some rare cards you can obtain from the Paradox Drive expansion of Pokémon TCG Pocket. It’s a Fighting-type Pokémon that’s durable enough with 150 HP. It’s weak against Psychic Pokemon and is a Basic Pokémon, meaning that you don’t have to evolve anything. If you want this card, Lootbar can help you with that.
Since it has a 4-diamond-rarity, obtaining it might be a little bit challenging. But with all the available options for obtaining a card in the Pokémon TCG Pocket, it wouldn’t be an issue.
Skills and Abilities
Koraidon ex also carries the same Legendary Drive ability, which enables this Pokémon to switch with your Active Pokémon and get all the Energy attached to it. However, different from Miraidon ex, Koraidon ex’s attack is not stacked by the amount of Energy.
Instead, its offensive skill, World Wrecker, can unleash 110 damage instantly with only 3 Fighting Energy needed. After the attack, it will discard your top card in the deck, however. But it wouldn’t be an issue, as long as you already have the Energy required.
Obtaining Koraidon ex Card
Getting a Koraidon ex card is easy. All you need to do is get the Paradox Pack and hope that luck is in your favor. Do note that this card has 4-diamond-rarity, so it might take a while to eventually get it through this method.
Another way to get it is from crafting. You’ll need to get 500 Pack Points for one card of Koraidon ex. If you think that’s expensive, it’s just fair because Koraidon ex is one of the rare cards you can obtain from the Paradox Drive expansion.
After opening so many packs to get it, you’ll eventually get the Pack Points you need for your favorite Pokémon. So it’s only a matter of time.
The last way to get this card is from trading. By trading a similar rarity card and paying 5000 Shinedust, you can get Koraidon ex for yourself.
The Best Koraidon ex Deck
If you see the card overview above, you might think that Koraidon ex is just fine on its own. After all, it only needs 3 Energy to unleash such devastating damage. While it may be true, there’s nothing wrong with making it even more deadly.
Since Koraidon ex is acting as the main attacker here, you may focus on having the secondary or even tertiary attacker to complement the damage. For this, we want to focus on debuffs, and we chose Sleep.
There’s nothing better at inflicting Sleep debuff than Darkrai and Igglybuff. So, we will be using these two in the Koraidon ex and Darkrai deck. See more below to know how it works.
Koraidon ex and Darkrai Deck
This deck focuses on two things: Koraidon ex as the primary attacker, and Darkrai for Sleep debuff. That way, your opponent’s Active Pokémon will be forced into a deep slumber each turn, making the chance of hurting your Koraidon ex lower.
The abilities from Darkrai also synergize well with Igglybuff's Sleepy Lullaby. Using both of them will grant you two chances of putting the defending Pokémon to sleep in each turn, which is amazing. For those who don’t have these Pokémon yet, Lootbar is ready to help.
However, you’ll need to have Koraidon ex first for this build. If you start with Darkrai, it’ll be so hard to turn the tables.
What You’ll Need
For this build, you will need 2x Igglybuff, 2x Darkrai, 2x Koraidon ex, and the rest are supporting trainers, like Cyrus, Sabrina, and Leaf. Don’t forget to include Professor's Research and Poke Ball to draw the Koraidon ex card faster.
Koraidon ex Deck Strategy
This deck requires a beautiful opening from Igglybuff. With only 1 Energy required, you can deal Sleepy Lullaby to put the enemy to sleep. Doing so will prevent their Active Pokémon from making any useful movement and let you collect more Energy in peace.
Once the Energy is enough, you can finally put down the Koraidon ex to deal with the rest of them. The combination of Darkrai and Igglybuff is actually great as an opening to deal around 50 damage early in the game.
With the two Pokémon around, you’ll get a higher chance of putting the enemy’s Pokémon asleep just with their abilities alone. However, do note that Igglybuff only has 30 HP. With that amount of health, it’s so easy to put it down.
How to Counter Koraidon ex Deck
The build may seem to be a problem, especially because it has two Pokémon that can unleash a sleep debuff per turn. However, it’s not that complicated to deal with Koraidon ex.
What you need here is the Psychic Pokémon that can deal more damage to Fighting-type Pokémon. Mega Altaria ex and Gourgeist are the perfect example of what Pokémon you need to have against Koraidon ex.
Their skills alone can wipe it out in 2 rounds, especially for Mega Altaria ex. If the enemy has Igglybuff ready, the job would become so easy, as it only has 30 HP. Just with one attack, you can crumble their strategies.
Since the enemy will be using Sleep debuff a lot, it’s not a bad idea to protect yourself from this element. Pokémon Center Lady is able to heal your Pokémon and remove all the statuses attached to it.
Teal Mask Ogerpon ex, on the other hand, is really powerful with its Soothing Wind. With this ability, any Pokémon that has Energy attached to it can’t be affected by any Special Conditions.
Conclusion
Koraidon ex deck can be powerful to have, especially for those who want to conquer all the challenges in the Paradox Drive expansion. However, it’s best with supporting items and Pokémon for its survivability. Those who want to obtain it can make Pokémon TCG Pocket top up and try this unique deck.
