What is Arknights Endfield: Contingency Contract?
Contingency Contract is Arknights: Endfield's premier endgame challenge mode, unlocked at Endministrator Authority Level 30. Each run is a four-wave combat encounter where players stack Test Criteria, difficulty modifiers ranging from Level 1 to Level, to make the fight harder in exchange for better rewards. The sum of all selected modifiers is your Total Test Criteria, and pushing that number higher unlocks new modifier sets and larger rewards.
Rewards come in the form of Vitrified Coins, exchanged at the Secret Sanctuary shop for limited event materials including Protohedron, Heavy Cast Die, Mark of Perseverance, Oroberyl, and bulk T-Creds. Your best Total Test Criteria score is tracked as your Sanctuary Rating, displayed on Friends-related screens for the duration of the event.
Arknights Endfield: Best Teams for Contingency Contract
Pushing past Risk 40 isn't about brute-forcing damage. It's about picking operators whose kits sidestep the harshest modifiers and lean into the ones that help. The current Test Criteria set punishes infliction-stacking carries and rewards reaction damage, which narrows the field of viable comps considerably. Below are the best teams to hit Risk 40+ and the operators carrying them there.
Combustion Team (Ambient: Tremor)
This is the dominant comp for high-risk Contingency Contract clears, built around chaining Combustion reactions through every wave. Estella acts as the controlled operator, her Cryo Infliction immunity making her invaluable whenever Team: Battle Chill, Team: Heat Loss, or Edit: Flashfreeze are active. Wulfgard triggers Combustion at zero SP and force-applies it through his Ultimate. Laevatain applies Combustion through her enhanced Battle Skill, and her Combo Skill auto-fires whenever Combustion procs, creating a constant damage loop alongside Wulfgard. Gilberta provides massive AoE inflictions and grouping, and her Ultimate amplifies all Arts damage on hit, Combustion ticks included.
| Combustion Team | |||
Estella (4★) | Wulfgard (5★) | Gilberta (6★) | Laevatain (6★) |
Note: Keep Gilberta in the fourth slot to easily avoid her Combo Skill and prevent triggering Edit: Regeneration, since the Lift it applies counts as crowd control and will heal smaller enemies based on Max HP.
Zhuang Fangyi Electric Stagger Team (Ambient: Overclock)
This Electric-focused composition triggers Electrification reactions to maximize Zhuang Fangyi's off-field damage output. Gilberta takes the controlled operator, applying Nature Inflictions that pair with the team's Electric stacks to trigger Electrification, an Arts Reaction that quickly fills the Stagger meter and opens an extra damage window for Combo Skill spam. Her Ultimate also amplifies all Arts damage on hit, Fangyi's Electric damage included, for a major burst window across the wave. Perlica applies Electric Inflictions through her kit, keeping enemies saturated with stacks for Electrification to fire continuously. Arclight doubles as a secondary Electric applier and the team's Solidification answer; her Physical-type Battle Skill dispels Solidification on Gilberta under Ambient: Physicolysis, an important utility when the run stacks Team: Heat Loss II and Team: Battle Chill II and Gilberta is at constant risk of being frozen.

Zhuang Fangyi (6★) | Perlica (5★) | Arclight (5★) | Gilberta (6★) |
Note: Run Edit: Effect Barrier to counter Edit: Restraint I. Restraint I cuts your damage 45% for 10 seconds whenever you apply a Vulnerability or Arts Infliction stack. Effect Barrier caps infliction application to once every 5 seconds per element per enemy, so the penalty only fire once per window instead of stacking on every application.
Cryo Combustion Team (Ambient: Tremor)
This Combustion variant swaps in Tangtang's Cryo kit for added Arts amplification, useful when the run leans into Cryo Infliction modifiers. Estella anchors the front line as the tank, her Cryo Infliction immunity making her invaluable against Team: Battle Chill, Team: Heat Loss, or Edit: Flashfreeze. Wulfgard triggers Combustion at zero SP and force-applies it through his Ultimate. Tangtang supports through her discounted 80 SP Battle Skill, applying Cryo Inflictions across a large AoE while stacking Arts Susceptibility, with her Signature adding Arts DMG Taken% on top to amplify every Combustion tick. Snowshine rounds out the team as another Cryo Infliction applier while doubling as the team's protection and sustain, keeping HP topped up through Cryo-heavy runs and Edit: Toxic Residue pressure.

Estella (4★) | Wulfgard (5★) | Tangtang (6★) | Snowshine (5★) |
Conclusion
Contingency Contract rewards preparation as much as it does raw account strength. Understanding which Test Criteria stack against your team, why Combustion sits at the top of the meta, and how to build a comp around the risks you're willing to take on will get you further than any single overpowered operator. Whether you're running the S-tier Combustion core, an Electric hypercarry setup, or a Physical Crush team, the operators and pairings above will carry you comfortably past Risk 40 and secure the full Vitrified Coin rewards from the Secret Sanctuary shop.
