Why Your Wish List Matters More Than Anything Else
AFK Journey is all about resource management. The Wish List removes much of the RNG, without it, you pull random heroes with little synergy. It unlocks after 30 pulls on the All Hero banner. Once filled, any S or A Level hero you pull comes from your selected picks, making it key to controlling progression. Many players skip the Wish List their first week and waste dozens of pulls. To maximize your pulls, top up in LootBar for the best rates on diamonds and recruitment letters.
How the Wish List Works (Detailed Breakdown)
The Two Types of Wish Lists
1. All Hero Recruitment Wish List
You can select 2 S Level heroes and 2 A Level heroes per faction (Lightbearer, Mauler, Wilder, Graveborn), for a total of 16 heroes. Every S Level or A Level pull from this banner will be one of the 16 you selected.
2. Epic Recruitment Wish List
This banner uses rarer Epic Recruitment Letters. The Wish List has only 5 spots, and you should only fill them with S Level heroes. Pulling an A Level hero from this banner gives you only 4 soul stones, a poor return on a rare resource.
Avoid pulling on Epic Recruitment without setting these 5 slots first. Top up in Lootbar to stock up on Epic Recruitment Letters before limited time banners expire.
All Hero Wish List (2026 Priority by Faction)
Below is the complete priority list based on the current meta (late 2025/early 2026), Dream Realm leaderboard data, and high-level AFK stage pushing strategies.
Lightbearers
Lightbearers specialize in energy generation, shields, and sustained healing. They're the backbone of many defensive and control teams.
Priority | Hero | Why They Matter |
#1 |
Rowan | Best energy battery in the game. His ultimate and passive restore energy to nearby allies, letting your carries spam ultimates faster. Doesn't need high ascension to work, but dupes make him tankier. Keep on list until Supreme+. |
#2 |
Cyran | Top meta mage for Lightbearers. Excels in PvP and high-tier AFK stages with execute potential and crowd control. Ultimate deals bonus damage to enemies below a health threshold—great for finishing off tanks other carries struggle to kill. |
#3 |
Hugin | Provides "Gear of Might," granting shields and Haste to allies. Haste is the most valuable stat (increases attack/action speed). Essential for protecting fragile damage dealers in Dream Realm boss fights. |
#4 |
Temesia | Disruptive tank who jumps into enemy backline, stunning and displacing enemy carries to buy your team time. Not useful in every stage, but vital for breaking specific difficult encounters. |
Maulers
Maulers are all about healing, attack speed buffs, and defense reduction. They pair exceptionally well with Graveborn carries.
Priority | Hero | Why They Matter |
#1 |
Smokey & Meerky | Single most important hero for new players. Provides consistent AoE healing and damage buffs. Needed for almost every game mode: AFK stages, Dream Realm, Arcane Labyrinth, and PvP. Get to Supreme+ as fast as possible, no other Mauler comes close. |
#2 |
Shakir | Linchpin of Mauler teams. Buffs entire team's attack speed and serves as durable off-tank. EX Weapon further enhances this buff, making him irreplaceable in high-end compositions. Pairs perfectly with Smokey & Meerky. |
#3 |
Koko | Unique mechanic converts burst damage into damage-over-time, preventing one-shots from assassins and mages. Top-tier for high-level AFK pushing since enemy damage scales so high that normal healing can't keep up. Gives you a second chance to survive. |
#4 |
Kruger | Here for one reason only: Dream Realm bosses. His defense reduction debuff is irreplaceable for high boss damage. Mediocre in regular AFK stages, but mandatory for bossing. Keep on list specifically for Dream Realm scoring. |
Wilders
Wilders focus on crowd control, grouping, and area denial. They enable your carries to hit multiple enemies at once.
Priority | Hero | Why They Matter |
#1 |
Eironn | King of grouping. His signature ability pulls all enemies within a large radius into a single pile, allowing your AoE carries (like Shemira) to wipe the entire enemy team in seconds. Unlock EX Weapon ASAP—the difference between low ascension and Supreme+ is night and day. |
#2 |
Ulmus | One of the best tanks for AFK Stages in the current meta. Provides massive crowd control and survivability. Ultimate roots enemies in place; passive gives damage reduction based on nearby enemies. A wall that enemy teams struggle to break through. |
#3 |
Faramor | Brings anti-heal and true damage to Wilders. Solution to enemy healers and tanks in late game. Many stages feature enemy Smokey & Meerky or other healers that make fights unwinnable—Faramor shuts them down completely. |
#4 |
Velara | Drops healing zones on the battlefield that also slow enemies inside them. Excellent for Dream Realm fights where bosses move frequently. The slow effect helps your carries land abilities more reliably. |
Graveborn
Graveborn are the damage faction. They contain the best carries, the best tanks, and the best debuffs in the game.
Priority | Hero | Role/Strengths | Key Notes |
#1 | Shemira | Hypercarry, massive AoE damage + self-heal | Used in every mode (AFK stages, Dream Realm, PvP, seasonal). Build first, Supreme+ ASAP. EX Weapon boosts damage & survivability. |
#2 |
Daimon | Tank scaling off enemy HP | Excels in Dream Realm bossing (huge HP pools). Strong in AFK stages vs high HP teams. |
#3 |
Bonnie | Marksman, multi-target pressure | Synergizes with Eironn’s grouping. Ricochet attacks devastate clustered enemies. |
#4 |
Niru | Support, sustain + revive | Provides life drain and revival. Solid for survivability. Easy to obtain copies (A-level). |
Following the Wish List guarantees you pulls like the best heroes like Shemira, Eironn, and Rowan instead of wasting pulls on random units, so make sure you top up in LootBar for Diamonds and Recruitment Letters with exclusive discounts to always have pulls ready when those key heroes appear on your list.
Epic Recruitment Wish List (The 5 Slots)
The Epic Recruitment banner is where you chase the rarest and most powerful heroes in AFK Journey. These include Celestials, Hypogeans, and Dimensionals.
Why you only put S Level heroes here:
If you put an A Level hero on your Epic Wish List and pull that hero, you receive only 4 soul stones. That's a tiny fraction of what you need to ascend them. If you put an S Level hero and pull them, you get a massive power spike that immediately improves your account.
Avoid wasting an Epic letter on an A Level hero. Ever.
The Top 5 Heroes for Your Epic Wish List in 2026:
Rank | Hero | Faction | Role/Strengths | Key Notes |
#1 |
Pandora | Dimensional | Damage, crowd control, team buffs | Considered the best Dimensional hero. Fits nearly every composition. |
#2 |
Shemira | Graveborn | Hypercarry, AoE damage + self-heal | Needs as many copies as possible. Put on Epic list to increase pull chances. |
#3 |
Elijah & Lailah | Celestial | Best supports, Haste, energy regen, healing | Known as “The Twins.” Supreme+ is long-term F2P/low-spend goal. |
#4 |
Eironn | Wilder | Crowd control, enemy grouping | Needs Supreme+ to survive pulls. Add to Epic list after Shemira & Twins. |
#5 |
Phraesto | Hypogean | Tank, damage link ability | Prevents one-shots in Dream Realm boss fights. Crucial for leaderboard scores. |
Celestial and Hypogean Priority (2026 Update)
Old guides from 2024 often said "Build Reinier first." The meta has changed significantly since then. Below you'll find two approaches to building your Celehypo heroes.
The Community Consensus represents what most top players agree on based on current leaderboard data. The Author's Pick is a personal ranking based on high level gameplay from late 2025 through early 2026.
The Community Consensus (Safe & Proven)
This is what most competitive players and guild leaders recommend based on current meta performance.
Priority | Hero | Faction | Role/Strengths | Key Notes |
#1 | Elijah & Lailah (The Twins) | Celestial | Best supports: Haste, energy regen, healing | Absolute must-have. First to Supreme+. Essential for AFK Stages & Dream Realm. |
#2 | Phraesto | Hypogean | Tank, damage link ability | Needs Mythic+ minimum. Supreme+ with EX+15 is strong enough for F2P. Spenders should push further. |
#3 | Next Celehypo Choice | Celestial/Hypogean | Flexible depending on focus | After Twins & Phraesto, choose based on your focus. Dream Realm offers best ROI since it’s daily bossing with competitive rewards. |
Which Celehypos Should You Skip?
Reinier is currently the strongest Hypogean overall, but he's harder to obtain and requires significant investment. Build him if you have extra resources after completing Twins and Phraesto. Scarlita is more niche and less reliable for most accounts, so prioritize other heroes first.
Common Wish List Mistakes to Avoid
Even with a perfect guide, players still make mistakes. Here are the most common ones and how to avoid them.
Wasting slots on "one copy wonders"
Heroes like Brutus and Mehira work perfectly fine at Elite rarity with just one copy. They don't need high ascension to do their jobs. Don't keep them on your Wish List long term. If you do, you'll be disappointed when you pull a dupe of them instead of a Smokey or Shemira.
Ignoring A Level heroes
You need 64 copies of an A level hero to max them out, compared to only 8 copies for an S level hero. You'll use A level heroes like Koko and Odie for months. Make sure their slots are filled on your All Hero Wish List.
Keeping Lucius on the list
Lucius is a great hero for the first two weeks of gameplay. Then he falls off significantly. In the late game, his shields are too small, and his cooldowns are too long to be effective. Remove him from your Wish List immediately after you have one copy for early game.
Spreading resources across multiple Celehypos
This is one of the most common and costly errors. You should stop spreading your resources and concentrate on one Celehypo at a time. Build one hero to Supreme+ before you even think about starting another. Splitting resources leaves you with multiple mediocre heroes instead of one game changing one.
Pulling on the wrong banner
Many players waste diamonds on the normal recruitment banner instead of saving for rate up banners or Epic Recruitment. Always check which banner you're pulling on before confirming.
Not updating your Wish List
The meta changes every season and with every new hero release. A hero that was terrible six months ago might be top tier today. Revisit your Wish List every time a new hero drops, or a balance patch is released.
Conclusion
Wish Listing is the most important tool for AFK Journey progression. Fill your All Hero list with staples like Shemira, Smokey & Meerky, Eironn, and Rowan. Use only S Level picks for the Epic list. Choose your Celehypo path, either Community Consensus (Twins first, then Phraesto) or another option. Avoid common mistakes: drop Lucius after one copy, skip one-copy "gimmick" heroes, and focus Celehypo resources on a single target. Top up AFK Journey in Lootbar for the best diamond and recruitment letter rates so you're ready when banners drop. For more tips, tier lists, and meta breakdowns, check Lootbar's guides. Happy pulling.
