What is Tactical Simulation or TacSim Mode in 007 First Light
Tactical Simulation, or the TacSim, is an optional game mode in 007 First Light that players can play to test their overall skills across stealth and combat mechanics. This mode can be accessed directly from the main menu or from Q’s basement during the main story at certain points. TacSim mode offers a variety of challenges set in the existing story locations. There is no story content within these challenges, but objectives to test certain skills. Upon completing the challenge, the TacSim rewards the player with XP and Intel (currency) that can be spent at the shop. The TacSim system tracks the Agent Score of every player and lists them in the leaderboards among other players in the world. It does require you to be online for the system to track your score and progress. Compete against other players in TacSim by purchasing the 007 First Light from LootBar.
How to Unlock TacSim Mode in 007 First Light
The TacSim Mode unlocks after completing the prologue mission, “Against the Odds.” Initially, only a limited number of challenges will be available in TacSim. More challenges unlock as you progress through the main story. It is best to visit the simulation every time you are in Q’s basement during the story. This way, you can complete all the available challenges up to that point and learn new, unique maneuvers that the game does not tell you originally. Once you have finished the main story, access the TacSim from the main menu to view all of the challenges.
NOTE: IO Interactive will add more challenges to TacSim with updates.
How Many Types of Challenges are There in TacSim?
There are two types of challenges that you can find and complete in TacSim. These include Escalations and Operations. Escalations are short, focused skill tests, and Operations are big, objective-driven missions. There is no story element in either of these challenges. You have to complete the objectives to finish the challenge and earn rewards.
What are Escalation Missions
The Escalation missions are short, focused skill tests that take place in the existing story location. Each Escalation mission offers a number of challenges up to 21 across 3 Tiers or difficulty levels. You can complete each Escalation mission on three difficulty levels (Tiers). The challenge gets tougher with each tier. However, to earn the most XP and Intel, completing all tiers of each Escalation is essential.
What are Operation Missions
The Operation missions are big sandbox missions with a list of challenges to complete. There are no tiers for the Operations in TacSim. These missions also take place in the story locations. The player has to pursue the key objectives while completing the challenges to complete the Operation missions.
TacSim Progression and Rewards
Progressing the TacSim game mode rewards you with two items: Experience Points and Intel. Experience points are essential for raising Bond’s clearance level in TacSim. The higher the clearance level, the more items available to purchase in the shop. Intel is the exclusive currency for TacSim. Upon completing each mission, you earn Intel alongside XP. You can then spend Intel at the Intel Shop to purchase various items that you can bring along to your next TacSim mission.
The main thing that you need to understand for this system is that you need both Clearance Level and Intel to purchase the items from the shop. It does not matter if you have enough Intel for an item; you cannot purchase it until you have enough Clearance Level. Raising the Clearance Level, all depends on how well you tackled the challenges. To be honest, the system rewards high XP and Agent Score for an efficient run. If you complete a mission quickly and quietly, you will earn more Agent Score than a loud run.
Free 1,000 Intel

Conclusion
Tactical Simulation, or the TacSim, is a secondary game mode in 007 First Light that players can play to test their skills. This system allows players to push through a series of challenges within each mission to earn exclusive currency and XP to raise their clearance level. Raising the clearance level and earning Intel allows the players to purchase gear items from the Intel Shop that they can bring into future runs in TacSim.
